Welcome to the newly redesigned WRW Web site! We’ve been changing and updating a lot around here, and as you’ll see, the work is ongoing . . .
One of the (hopefully) most obvious changes you’ll see is that we are now featuring three book covers at the top of the page. Part of the focus of this redesign was to give our published members more promotion. To find out how to submit your book cover for one of the featured spots, please click here.
One of the most graphic changes you’ll find is the new layout for ”Books on the Shelves”. We’re taking the information that runs in each issue of the Update and giving it an html twist by adding digital book covers that link to the author’s Web sites.
One of the biggest changes you’ll find is the new “Members Only” section. Once you’ve registered for the Web site (and been approved), you’ll go there to find archived copies of the Update and, eventually, the WRW Library catalog, photos from meetings, retreats, etc., as well as other miscellaneousbut oh so important!items that we haven’t thought of yet. (In other words, your suggestions are welcome.)
One change that may not be so obvious is that this site is now being published in blog format.
This change was suggested to us by our FABulousand wonderfully patient Web designer, Julie Zidel of Bona Fide Style. (Applause! Applause!) Julie’s been working with your sadly html-challenged Web site committee for months now while we hashed everything out and we couldn’t be happier with her work. If you’re thinking of redoing your Web siteor thinking about putting together a new Web sitewe highly recommend Bona Fide Style. (And if you tell them that you found them through us they’ll give you a discount . . .)
What the new blog format means for us, the Web site staff, is ease of updating. What it means for youand really, isn’t it all about you?is a chapter Web site with more current content. Thanks to Julie’s beautifully elegant design and the ExpressionEngine software, adding new content to this site is now as easy as sending an e-mail message. (Yes. Really.)
In other words, we don’t just look coolwe work cool, too!
The WRW Web site committee would like to thank everyone who e-mailed us with their information to be included in the new “Meet Our Members/Our Published Authors” lists. Unfortunately, setting those lists up turned out to be more complicated than we expected (not from a technical standpoint, but from an organizational standpoint) and we are unable to include them on the new site at this time.
Rest assured that we have all of your information in place, so once we get the go ahead we’ll post the information that we already have for you. If you see any changes then that you would like to make, please e-mail us and we’ll be happy to edit, but don’t send us revised info until we get the lists up and running. It will cut down on possible confusion.
We apologize for the delay. In the meantime, if you haven’t sent in your information yetplease wait. We’ll send another announcement out to the loop when we’ve got the lists running and you can send us your information then. We’re anxious to get the lists up on the site, too, and we’ll do so as soon as possible after we get these last few details ironed out. Thank you for your patience.
Soclick around and see what you think of your new place.
We think it looks great and works even better and we hope that you do, too.
Sincerely,
Your WRW Web Site Committee
