WRW Published authors:
Barnes & Noble in Bethesda is considering a Valentine’s Day signing featuring WRW authors. I don’t know the details yet, e.g., how many authors they are going to invite, or the exact date. However, what I need is for you to tell me if you’re interested in participating.
This will probably be a weekend signing. As I said, I don’t know the date yet, or even whether it will be a Saturday or Sunday.
Please let me know if you’re interested. Kindly provide me with the title of whatever release is closest to the beginning of February, along with publisher and ISBN. And of course, your pseudonym if it’s not your real name. Also provide your contact info, so I can easily provide this to the bookseller.
What I have to do is provide her with a list of prospective authors, which she will discuss with her store manager, who will then provide the list to B&N corporate for approval..
NOTE: B&N cannot deal with self-published books, or with books that are not available through the usual vendors, such as Ingram. Also, no e-books.
I will be speaking to the bookseller this coming Tuesday, so please contact me via email before then.
Thanks so much!
Binnie Syril Braunstein, looking forward to hearing from you.
Thirteen authors will be signing books at the big meet and greet near Harpers Ferry to kick-start our retreat weekend!

A note to Stacie which lets her know that you are a WRW member, are planning to attend the Retreat, and would very much like to be included in the Pre-Retreat signing. The email should include:
Your name
Your name as it appears on the book cover
Your telephone number
Book title
Publisher+line (if applicable)

Price
Be as speedy as you can: Why not get all of your info into a file now, and then all you’d have to do when that envelope from Denise (our registrar) arrives, heave a sigh of relief and pop your request into an email.
NOTE: Because of space limitations, and places reserved for WRW speakers and of course, Nora, there are a limited number of spaces available. Also because of that, books with pub dates which are close to the time of the Retreat may be more likely to be selected. E.g., if your book is published in December 2006, and someone else’s book is published in March or April 2007, the 2007 books may be more likely to be selected.
NOTE: Just because you request to be included in the signing doesn’t mean that it will happen. Again - space is a factor. If you’re not invited to sign, please don’t be crushed.
Feel free to contact if there are any questions, especially if you are new to WRW, or are newly published.
See ya’ll in Boonsboro!

The Smithsonian Associates presents
Conversations about Romance, with Best-Selling Authors
Sessions on Wednesdays: Wed., Oct. 19, Nov. 9, Dec. 7, Jan. 11, Feb. 1
Romance novels were created to celebrate women’s control over their own destiny, with the promise of enduring happiness at story’s end. The popular genre’s established pedigree includes such venerable writers as Jane Austen.
The form allows for tremendous latitude in expanding on the basic theme of the heroine and her man. Many writers of romance combine this premise with detailed history, suspense, supernatural experience, humor, and other styles that allow for variety in thematic development. However, they all share an abiding sense of the heroine as the winning centerpiece.
In this series, several best-selling authors describe how they create compelling heroines, challenging heroes, and intricate story lines that allow the protagonists to live happily ever after. The writers reflect on their careers, their recent works, and the satisfactions of writing books that readers love. A book signing follows each session.
Oct 19 Suzanne Brockmann
Author of the Troubleshooter and other series, has based many books on the U.S. Navy SEALs.
Nov 9 Mary Jo Putney
Author of Stolen Magic, her passionate novels combine romance, history, or fantasy with psychological depth and intensity.
Dec 7 Diana Gabaldon
Her novels are romances in the classical sense, closer in style to 19th-century works. Discussion of the Outlander saga, which has sold more than 12 million copies worldwide.
Jan 11 Carly Phillips
Her best-selling The Bachelor was chosen by Kelly Ripa as a Reading with Ripa book club selection.
Feb 1 Jennifer Crusie
Hot sex, clever characters, and wit are hallmarks of her best-selling “chick-lit” novels, including Bet Me.
